Here it is, the last day of Jamboree 2011. What classes did I take today?  My first class was with Lou Szucs ~ "Court Records: Mirror of a Nation" , sponsored by Ancestry.com. I was excited because I had never heard Lou Szucs speak before. I wasn't disappointed either. My attention was totally mesmerized when I saw on the screen that she suddenly was talking about the probate of William Fleming from Kilkenny, Ireland. Then I saw the name James Fleming, and I know it was awhile until I actually heard her next words. My mind was racing like crazy. I have a William Fleming from Kilkenny, Ireland and a grandfather whose was named James Fleming! She mentioned that a lot of the research on this family was complete, but it certainly isn't on my end! I waited when the session was over to speak with Lou. Once I did, I found out it wasn't the same line, drats . But hey, you never know, right? Next I took ~ "What Could Have Happened: Creating and Proving a Hypothesis

I have been so busy watching grandchildren and dogs, messing with my blog and dealing with issues on Facebook. It has taken me until last night to get caught up on blog posts from the two long weekends away this month. I wasn't able to comment on every post I read by any means, but I did try to make a few comments along the way. I am glad to be caught up again at least with my Google Reader.  Now, I am behind on Jamboree posts. This has taken a bit of time also as I have tried to crop most of the photos I am sharing from this event. There were a few photos also that I sent to people involved for permission to print. I do have a few of photos that I would never post as they are either, really bad pictures, not good shots of the individuals involved, OR are pictures that happened at Jamboree and STAY at Jamboree. A few of these I have gone on to send to the appropriate individuals so they can at least see and have their own copy to keep if they so choose.  I do have plenty of p

Here I am again, changing my blog theme and cleaning up a bit. I spent a few days working on this header, and for now anyway, I am happy with it. This is the first time I have made my own header, it was fun, but a challenge also. I am sure if I had directions sitting in front of me, I could have made this much faster. I do learn by trial and error a lot, and this was one of those such cases. It is not perfect, but a start. I wanted to share some photos of where my Lundberg family was from. The land and house photos in the header were taken by cousin Janne Lundberg this month. The one picture I already had is the one with the house and my gggrandparents, Erik Andersson Lundberg and Brita Svedberg. Their daughter, my great grandmother, Marta Brita Lundberg is also shown, center, right. It really hit home when I saw the most current pictures of this area in Abborråsen, Sweden. Saturday morning I attended another session of Janis Martin's "Unclaimed Persons." This session was entitled "Every Life is Worth Remembering." I thoroughly enjoyed this class. It added to my enthusiasm for working on the Unclaimed Person's site. The title of the class alone has so much meaning to me. I am just like many other family historians though, we all wonder where we can get more time added to our day. If you ever have an opportunity to hear Janis Martin speak regarding "Unclaimed Persons," I highly recommend you attend! The next class I attended was named "Fingerprinting Our Families: Using Ancestral Origins as a Research Key." The speaker was Curt Witcher. Now, tell me, how many of you wouldn't want to hear Curt Witcher lecture? This was another first for me. I have heard his talk from Roots Tech online, but not seen or heard him in person. Friday morning was partially spent visiting GeneaBloggers, those who had arrived the previous night and those which arrived that morning. A group of us went up to help Thomas bring down the GeneaBloggers welcome bags from his room, so he could pass them out to the bloggers. I have to tell you, the swag bag committee did an awesome job preparing and putting these together. There were so many WONDERFUL gifts in these bags from a variety of vendors. One of the conference rooms at the Marriott where classes were held was named "The Hollywood Room." Friday I took three classes:  "The Genealogist & The Coroner" ~  Janis Martin and Joyce Kato I joined "Unclaimed Persons" at the onset. I haven't participated as much as I would have liked at this point. I was interested in hearing Janis speak and possibly learning about free online sites that may help with the research process. This class wasn't what I thought it would be, but I really enjoyed it. Joyce is from the coroner's office. She explained the process they use on unclaimed bodies and how the case may eventually come to U.P. She also explained what happens when a body doesn't get identified, or next of kin found. There were parts of this talk that were rather gruesome to think about, but reality. Janis shared the types of records and process U.P. goes through to try to solve cold cases. I enjoyed listening to the process from

This year with the new  SCGS'S Jamboree's Extension Series , Jamboree's  App , and Paula Hinkle from SCGS being featured on Thomas Mac Entee's  BlogTalkRadio  show, it would have been amazing if one was not aware of Jamboree 2011! Jamboree still  came so fast for me, as all of a sudden, there I was, driving to Burbank! I missed the growing excitement that comes with the anticipation of attending this conference. It didn't take long for the excitement to build though as I hit the road. I enjoyed a most wonderful, LONG weekend away with many great motorcycle friends. The weather wasn't the norm for June (will summer ever come?), so we all went to our destination in cages (cars). Even though we all belong to the same (motorcycle) chapter, a small group (8) also belongs to another motorcycle group. Yes, it has caused some tension, which it shouldn't, but that is the way the world turns. Personally, I don't have time for trivial issues, life is just to short! With that said, I stayed away from the "nay sayers" and had a wonderful time! I realized there was a "choice" I could make, I chose to be educated in the matter and to have a good time.
