I do not remember my first toy, which makes me feel sad. Does this mean it wasn't important? Does it mean I was given to much as a child? Does it mean I do not have a good memory? Maybe it is a bit of all of this?
The reason it makes me sad is that I know for a fact my dad remembers his first toy. It was a special gift that meant a lot to him. Back in those days they didn't have a lot of toys like the kids do now.
I wonder if one of these was my first toy? I remember my kids having one…
My mother never saved much of anything. If it was not good, throw it out! That was her motto! I do not have anything saved from when I was a child, except my christening dress. I am grateful I have that!
My mother did save a large stuffed lion she kept on her bed from the time my younger sister was born. It became decades old. I wonder why that was so important to her to save for so long? I have no idea what happened to it after she passed away.
Photos were taken of me when I was very young, but then my dad started using a movie camera. I have copies of all of the movies he has taken over the years, but photos are harder to come by. I have photos once again when I start using my own camera, when I was about twelve or thirteen. I haven't watched all of the movies in quite some time. If there is a film of me with toys I will add to this post. If I do add anything, I will post that I made an update. The only thing I remember playing with in the movies though…was my dog, Skippy.
Thanks for stopping by!
Wishing you success in all of your genealogical treasure hunts!
