Jamboree 2010 ~ In the Beginning ~ Post #1

First things first. My originally planned room mate was not able to attend Jamboree at the last minute. Fortunately, she had arranged for us to have a third room mate this year, so I only drove to Jamboree by myself, which really wasn't so bad. I didn't stay in a motel room by myself, thanks to Sheri Fenley my original room mate, from The Educated Genealogist and Becky Wiseman, who became my only room mate, from Kinexxons. I have now had two wonderful GeneaBlogger room mates.

Becky and I hooked up at our room in the Ramada and then headed on over to the Marriott to see the other GeneaBloggers who had arrived. We registered that evening, which saved us from the crowds on Friday morning. Nice add on this year.

Here is Becky Wiseman, my roomie I finally met, and Craig Manson who authors GeneaBlogie, whom I have previously met. I love this picture!

Many of the GeneaBloggers had arrived Thursday. Some I have met and some I have not met. Amy Coffin, of We Tree, and Holly Hansen of Family History Expos, are two of the people I had the honor to finally meet. You may find the two of them sitting next to each other rather appropriate, Amy has joined Family History Expos as the Social Media Coordinator! Congratulations Amy!

Thomas MacEntee, from Destination Austin FamilyGeneaBloggers, Amy Coffin, again, from We Tree, Denise Levenik, from The Family Curator, and Joan Miller, from Luxegen Genealogy are given many, many thanks for the awesome GeneaBlogger Bags! A special "Thank You" goes out to everyone that donated to these bags, we sure got spoiled!

Mid afternoon I met up with Gini, from Ginisology and her husband Steve. They were very kind and treated me to a marvelous shrimp appetizer there at the Marriott, and those shrimp were hugh! When it came time for dinner, the three of us weren't really hungry, so while everyone headed off for a meal, we headed across the street for an ice cream, actually we had a delicious yogurt. Headed back to the hotel, visited more with the bloggers and then Becky and I went on to our motel, and chatted away until the early hours of the next day. Such a great start to Jamboree!

Thanks for stopping by!

Wishing you success in all of your genealogical treasure hunts!
