New Items Going With Me On Vacation
There are couple more gifts I received for Christmas that I wanted to share with you. Both of these things I will be taking with me on my vacation which starts as soon as I am off work on Friday!
We are going to Cabo. For a week. Never been there before. We were invited to go with some new friends we met a few months back. They have a time share and go every year. Another couple, friends of theirs, go at the same time every year also, as they have a timeshare too. The ironic thing is that I have known the other couple for about 10 years, I worked with her at two different jobs! There will be a total of eight of us there in two different time shares. Should be a lot of fun and I am looking forward to it. Rest, relaxation and sun.
Although this trip won't be genealogy related, I plan to catch up on my genealogy magazines. I also plan to read a book, the first gift I want to mention. The book is "Google your Family Tree" by Daniel M. Lynch. I have only had a chance to read the Introductions, Acknowledgements and such, leading up to the first chapter. I am sure there is much for me to learn from this book, and I can hardly wait to delve into it!
The second item I wanted to mention that I received was a Nikon D-60 SLR camera. It actually wasn't a Christmas gift, it was the day after Christmas gift! My daughter got one for Christmas and I was very fascinated with hers and how great the pictures were. I had mentioned to her that I was thinking of buying one, and that I had done a little research on the one she received. Well, she needed to get a camera case for hers, and her father went with her.
Upon finding her case, they also found a heck of a deal on the same camera, plus some! (The case, classes, DVD's, an auto focus lens, and more. In fact I haven't even received it all yet as they were out of stock) My husband asked my daughter if he should buy me one and she said yes, knowing I would be very pleased! Was I surprised and pleased!
So, the maiden voyage of the camera will be on this trip. I will play and experiment and hopefully learn about it. I am hoping I will be able to attend the classes which won't start until March. In the meantime, it will be fun learning what I can about it. I hope when I get back I will be able to share some wonderful photos with you. The camera should be broken in and ready for the next great genealogy shots by then!
So there you have it. I have a vacation coming up, not genealogy related, however I hope to accomplish some of those things I haven't been able to get to that will in the long run assist in my genealogy! Lots of reading....magazines, a book and camera info! I hope this keeps me from getting to relaxed in Cabo!
Thanks for stopping by!
Wishing you success in all of your genealogical treasure hunts!

Enjoy your well deserved vacation-especially going to someplace WARM...can't wait to see the vacation pictures too. Have fun friend.
ReplyDeleteHi Taylorstales,
ReplyDeleteI know it is so very cold in some parts of the states, it seems so unfair to say I am going where it will for sure be warm. It has been in the 70's here the past couple of days and we haven't had much rain this season, we need it. I thank you for all of the comments you have left my friend, you are to kind!
Msteri,
ReplyDeleteEnjoy you vacation and your new gifts too.
Thanks Professor Dru!
ReplyDeleteHope you have fun-and congrats on the camera-it sounds awesome.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoyed the book! What pressure - knowing that you decided to take my book with you on VACATION! Let me know what you think of it so far. Happy New Year.
