The Book of Me, Written by You ~ Prompt 2 ~ Your Birth

I was born in Oakland, California at Samuel Merritt Hospital. The hospital was on the corner of Hawthorne Ave. and Webster Street. It is now known as Alta Bates Medical Center.

I venture to think my mother the Dr. and nurses were the only ones present in the room during delivery. My father may or may not have been at the hospital depending if he was working or not. His occupation at the time was a plastic's laborer. If my father didn’t take my mother to the hospital I do not know who took her. Maybe her mother, or even a taxi is possible I suppose.

I was born at 8:21a.m. on a Friday morning and I am a Virgo. My birthstone is sapphire, which I have always loved, especially with diamonds.

I was born with some brown hair, but not much. I would venture to say I was born with blue eyes and they are blue to this day. I do not know what my size was at birth, but I was probably about average or maybe even small. After I was a couple of months old I became a bit chubby. I know this from pictures I have. 

 Unfortunately, I can not ask my parents specific questions because they are no longer alive. It seems to me I may have seen my actual dimensions before, but if so I do not have that information scanned as of yet. If and when I run across that information I will add it here.

I have half a dozen or so pictures of myself when I was a few months old, one of which I have shared here. Of course pictures were black and white in those days.

I was the first child and was not a twin. There are twins in my family however, my father had twin brothers and twin sisters!

    Oh, how I wish I were organized! I try to be Alex, but there is too much I always want to do! Someday maybe you will have the chance to be around me, then you can tell me if I have that calming affect or not, I would be interested to know! Thank you for the comment about my blog header. I just went to Sweden and actually saw this area for the first time. I will be blogging about my trip.

I finally took time yesterday to do something I have been wanting to do for awhile now. It has been several years since I started genealogy and blogging. Many cousins have been found. But, how many? Sentimental Sunday ~ Western Union Telegram

Do you remember telegrams? Western Union Telegrams were a bit before my time. I have scanned the few that were kept and received by my paternal family back in the day.  This telegram was sent to my grandmother from Obed Olson stating his brother Philip had passed away on Wednesday March 9, 1960. It also let the family know that the funeral services were to be on Saturday at 2:00pm at Coop Mortuary in Hibbing, Minnesota. The telegram was to be received by Friday (which would have been March 11) and the funeral with the funeral being the next day I highly doubt my grandparents made if from California to Minnesota for the funeral. Philip and Obed Olson were my first cousin once removed. Unfortunately, I never met either of them.
