Jamboree 2012 ~ Sunday

Sunday, the final day already? Wow, time FLEW!

Here are the classes I attended on Sunday:

Complex Evidence: What is it? How Does it work? Why does it Matter? ~ Warren Bittner, CG
All About Census Records-Becoming an Expert ~ George G Morgan
Mac Genealogy ~ A.C. Ivory
The Frugal Curator ~ Denise Levenick

Details. Little details. They are so important. If you think about it though, details are important in most anything we do. Kind of like the finishing touch, right? In these classes today I was reminded of details and how important they are.

For the most part, I again tried taking classes with instructors I had never heard speak before.

Complex Evidence, we all have it at times, right? Warren Bittner broke down complex evidence into details. Sometimes I need to remember to be more detailed. By skimming over something and not breaking it down into details, I am sure I miss clues. Great class, great reminder. I took many notes and look forward to reviewing them.

All About Census Records-Becoming an Expert. I took this class because I love census records and  knew there was more I could learn about them. I have to admit, I have heard George speak before, but the subject definitely interested me. Again, there were many details I didn't know! It is always a pleasure hearing George, and I learned more in depth about census records. Interesting!

Mac Genealogy ~ I have to admit, I was most excited about the Mac classes A.C. Ivory was teaching, because I am a fairly new Mac owner. This was a fun class, I learned how to make myself a custom genealogy dashboard and can't wait to try it! The more I learn about my Mac, the more I love it! This was now the second time I attended a class by A.C. Ivory, but I would have been crazy to miss it! The two classes A.C. Ivory taught where I believe his first classes taught at Jamboree. Correct me if I am wrong!

The Frugal Curator with Denise Levenick was another first for me. Denise made her debut Jamboree speaking engagement with this class, so if for no other reason I wanted to go and support her. Little did I realize how frugal I could be and how much fun I could have making genealogy items. I hope this is the start of more classes at Jamboree with Denise.

Great classes and lots of notes! Thank you to all instructors, I once again learned a lot! I took 13 classes, wow! I think out of these 13 classes I only attended two from speakers I had heard before, and I took two classes from two different people I had never heard before. I love that I tried rounding out my experiences more, it was great fun and an awesome learning experience.

I will be honest, I missed that there wasn't any kind of function for the bloggers. It made it difficult to meet the ones I didn't know. It would have been nice to have some dedicated time to be around and chat with old friends also. There are so many bloggers now, it is hard to keep up with all of them. I did meet a few knew people though and I am grateful for that. A few meals with vendors and bloggers were fun although when we had 16 people and being at opposite ends of the table meant it was a bit difficult to chat with everyone.

I thank Paula, Leo and everyone involved in Jamboree for your hard work and dedication! The numbers show what a great event Jamboree is. I think I saw Paula posted there were over 1600 people in attendance this year AND over 600 people that attended the first virtual classes. Fantastic!

Thank you also to Janet Hovorka, from Family Chartmasters (a.k.a. the Chart Chick) for sponsoring the wonderful blogger beads! I believe I forgot to thank you whenever I saw you. I enjoyed your question session at your booth too, that was great!

My fourth year at Jamboree has come to an end. Another great year, great friends, fun and some learning. Til next time!

Thanks for stopping by!

Wishing you success in all of your genealogical treasure hunts!
