Blog "2" Book with Blog2Print

One of the ways you can back up your blog is to have your blog turned into a book. I have been wanting to try this option for some time. During the crazy month of December and Christmas shopping I got a wild hair to have a sample of this done to see how I really liked the idea. Now, if you know me at all, you would know I hate to shop, except for at Christmas time because if I shop at all, I prefer to shop for others! It was a crazy and wild time for me this past Christmas as I bought several unexpected gifts for MYSELF!

What do you think of the cover? I like how the background subtly has "blog" written all over it. It is nice in person. For this book I chose one of my great grandfathers, Joseph Fleming, to grace the front of the book.

This is the back of the book. You can choose any picture from your blog posts to enter on the back. This picture happens to be from footnoteMAVEN's 5th Edition of  "Smile for the Camera" carnival, which I participated in. I just love all of the art work she does!

Again the background of the book has "blog" written all over.

To the right is a view of the front side or the book which lists the title of my blog. I haven't taken the time to read through the book yet, but from the looks inside I am very happy. You can choose to have the posts printed with or without the photos. I chose to include the photos (I didn't have many pictures posted though back then) and I am happy I did. They are part of the posts after all.

The company I went through is Blog2Print. I printed the first 4 months of my blog which completes the year 2008. The book has 117 pages and also shares the comments that were made. I thought the price was very reasonable and can't wait to do the next one. I am not sure if there was a page limit to the books, but I would love to get 2009 all in the next book!

Thanks for stopping by!

Wishing you success in all of your genealogical treasure hunts!

  1. This is a great idea and I like what you have done. Can you pick out just certain posts when making the book? I would like to do one for each family of ancestors. The Schrocks/Troyers are whom I'm working on now, but I'd like a separate book for my Hays/Coulter/Post families.

  2. Congrats on being an author! I've been publishing my own blog books every quarter using Blurb. I'm very interested in your Blog2Print process, especially since you can publish your comments, too. I have a few questions: Are the bindings sewn or glued? How is the paper? Acid Free? Can you keep a copy of your book on your own hard drive, or is it uploaded to their server? Can you print it out on your own home printer? Was it easy to edit? I'm happy with Blurb, but I find it expensive and I can't get the comments to slurp.

  3. Thank you for sharing! I just ordered my 2010 blog posts. I compared it to Blurb and found Blog2Print so much easier to use. I ordered 1 book and then I ordered the digital copy of the book, thinking I could save it discs for family members that are interested.

  4. I am so glad you shared this. I'd heard of putting your blog posts into a book but nothing specific. It looks like a very nice book you would want to have on your coffee table.

  5. Beautiful book. How big did the pages turn out to be? Is it 5x7, 8 1/2 x 11? Can you choose the size. I really do like it.

  7. Cheryl, I love this idea and I am going to go ahead and do one on my blog. Start with my first year. I love the front and back cover! You did a wonderful job selecting both!

Thank you for sharing such a great idea.
