Family Traditions and Genealogy

Have you analyzed your family traditions lately? Do they make sense to you? Do you need to re-think any of the traditions you have?

I thought about this a few years back and tried to start a new tradition for the Thanksgiving holiday. I ran across and read this article which reminded me that I certainly was not organized enough to keep the new tradition going. This year, I hope to change that.

What is the tradition I am referring to? It starts with a cute little book, like a notebook, diary, something that people can write in. Of course, it can be decorated anyway you wish, depending what you plan to use it for. Mine is geared towards Thanksgiving. I would pull the book out to use specifically on that day.
Every person that came to Thanksgiving dinner (or the house) is expected to write at least one thing they are grateful for that specific Thanksgiving. By dating the entries by year, eventually you would have a nice collection of a "Yearly Thanksgiving Diary."

This year I plan to find the book, read through what has been written thus far and NOT get upset that we missed a few years. Ready to start it again this year, and follow up by saving the book with my Thanksgiving decorations so I won't forget to bring it out.

What are your traditions during the year? Do you have favorite traditions?

Thanks for stopping by!

Wishing you success in all of your genealogical treasure hunts!
